IUE LEFT ITS MARK ON MODEKO
The products designed and developed by the students of Industrial Design and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will be exhibited in the fair until April 11.
The visitors show great interest to the stand where the prototypes of the products that are accepted to Salone Satellite last year in Milano Design Week and the designs that the students developed this year take place. Besides, the presentation of the İzmir Branch of ETMK (Industrial Designers Vocational Institute) which is established with the participation of Department of Industrial Design academicians and students takes place at the stand. Furniture Designer Adnan Serbest who received the Outstanding Design award in Design Turkey 2008 visited IUE stand in MODEKO and stated that he was very impressed by the positive atmosphere in İzmir. The famous designer Adnan Serbest told that the products designed by İzmir University of Economics had competitive power in international standards.
Head of Department of Industrial Design Asst. Prof. A. Can Özcan and lecturer Asst. Prof. Tolga Benli gave a symposium on “Furniture Sector and Design” in the scope of the fair and gave some information about design. Asst. Prof. A. Can Özcan talked about the importance of an organized design profession and emphasized the importance of education for the sector.
