WE ARE THE CHAMPION UNIVERSITY OF İZMIR, THE CITY THAT RAISES CHAMPIONS

Chairman Demirtaş said, “I will not act modestly about it. We are the champion university of İzmir, which raises champions.”

Ekrem Demirtaş organized a press conference with İzmir University of Economics Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin about the university preference period and gave some information about the university. Chairman Ekrem Demirtaş stated that the aim of the university was to produce entrepreneur graduates and said, “We aim to raise entrepreneurs. We are producing graduates that are being looked for not that look for a job. For example, not any of the students of Department of Psychology looked for a job after graduating. All of our graduates are working in positions related to their professions. As a result of the agreements made with Tesco Kipa and Koçtaş, the students graduating from the options program that we offer start working immediately. 14 students that graduated this year started working in Tesco Kipa.”

Ekrem Demirtaş emphasized that the aim of İzmir University of Economics was to become an international world university and stated that they were giving education to students from 13 different countries and they were working with academicians from 20 different countries. Demirtaş stated that they aimed to be a colorful university and said, “We want to be a university deserving of İzmir. Our university is a cosmopolitan university just like İzmir. We are accepting students from all the countries of the world. Academicians from all around the world come to our university to give education. It is the road to become a world university."

Ekrem Demirtaş underlined that many important departments like Logistics, International Relations and EU, Software Engineering were offered at İzmir University of Economics for the first time in Turkey. Demirtaş also said, “Many of our departments brought in something new. İzmir University of Economics is the champion university of İzmir, which raised the LYS champion. İzmir University of Economics will be a right choice for the university candidates not only with its education quality but also with its social facilities."

Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin gave some information about the faculties and departments of İzmir University of Economics in the meeting and stated that they were one of the 4 foundation universities that has Diploma Supplement Label given by European Commission. Prof. Dr. Sezgin said, "Our education quality is approved by the European Commission. With this diploma, our students can do masters and PhD and have the chance to work abroad. On the other hand, the newly offered departments, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Department of Sociology will meet the need of Turkey. Our Faculty of Law that is approved by Higher Education Council will accept students in the next academic year. As we stated in our strategic plan, we have a very important standing in international arena with our student-oriented education. Our aim is to make difference in education. We work for it.”
