OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE CERTIFICATE IN SECOND FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Besides, İzmir University of Economics added Chinese to its second foreign languages.
School of Foreign Languages Director Asst. Prof. Evrim Üstünlüoğlu stated that the second foreign language courses given in undergraduate programs were equivalent to the “B1” level in European language criteria and said, "It is very important to receive this certificate since in business life, language levels are documented only with internationally valid certificate exams. Our students will be able to graduate with a language certificate in the new academic year. It will enable them to be privileged in business life. It is also very important for our university to be an examination center of certain exams. We have many students who work abroad by taking this certificate."
If İzmir University of Economics students become successful in the exam in their second foreign language conducted by European Association for Language Testing and Assessment, the university will cover their examination fee. Besides, the students will be able to choose Chinese as a second foreign language alongside with French, German, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Greek and Portuguese. Chinese will be taught by a Chinese academician in the School of Foreign Language that knows the importance of Chinese in business life.
