İZMİR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS IS THE FAVORITE
The students that are placed after two examinations made their preferences and they chose İzmir University of Economics, which is one of the leading foundation universities in Turkey. İzmir University of Economics Board of Trustees Chairman Ekrem Demirtaş stated that the students and their families made the right choice after a difficult examination marathon.
İzmir University of Economics that produced one thousand graduates in 2009—2010 academic year will accept nearly 500 students in the new academic year. İzmir University of Economics, which has 90 percent occupancy rate proved its education quality again. 3 students among first 200 people that passed the exam, 36 students among first 5 thousand people and 65 students from first 10 thousand people preferred İzmir University of Economics. 38 percent of the students that are placed to İzmir University of Economics wrote İzmir University of Economics in their first 3 preferences.
Chairman Demirtaş stated that due to the problems with the new examination system, only 50 percent of the students in İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir were placed but İzmir University of Economics achieved great success and said, “Due to the changes in the new examination system, the students were very nervous and excited. This anxiety continued after the exam. According to the explanations made by OSYM, only half of the students in the three big cities were placed to a university. Despite these results, this year, İzmir University of Economics carried its success level one-step ahead again. We carried our occupancy level to 90 percent in a period that hundreds of students could not be placed. We thank to the students and their families who chose İzmir University of Economics that proved its education quality not only in İzmir but also in Turkey.”
Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin underlined that the education quality of İzmir University of Economics that was one of the two foundation universities in Turkey that are granted Diploma Supplement Label this year by European Commission was increasing. He said, “We are working very hard to raise our education quality. We are granted Diploma Supplement Label this year in June. Our university that increases its success rate day by day is the first choice of the students. We will maintain this success in the following years.”
