GRADUATES OF LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT ARE IN UPS
With the program that enables Department of Logistics Management senior students to learn the sector by coming together with the industry representatives and academic consultants, unemployment is not a problem anymore.
Department of Logistics Management has implemented 23 projects with 17 different institutions in Logistics Project Applications executed with the university and industry cooperation since 2008. With the projects that 105 students took place, the students came together with the managers in the sector and stepped into the business life before graduating. Gülbahar Özhelvacı who has graduated from Department of Logistics Management and who attended Logistics Project Applications and 2009 graduate Yiğit Çevik started working in UPS.
Gülbahar Özhelvacı stated that with Logistics Project Applications, she had the chance to have practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge about the sector and said, “Thanks to the detailed education I received and the projects we carried out with our academicians ı had experience especially in my last year. I met the managers of the companies I want to work with and produced projects for them. It was beneficial for me to practice my theoretical knowledge. These projects were the biggest factor for me to be employed by UPS."
Yiğit Çevik stated that İzmir University of Economics Department of Logistics Management was creating academic solutions for one of the biggest problems of Turkey, which is to branch out and said, "Logistics, which is the basic activity of economics finds its place slowly. The sector needs people who are more equipped and who are integrated with the world. This increases our chance as the new graduates to find jobs. The studies we have done as a result of the university – industry cooperation are big opportunities for us to improve ourselves."
