TURKISH FASHION BREEZE IN VIETNAM
Vietnam Raffles Hanoi University Department of Fashion Design instructor Ceren Ege prepared a fashion show with the theme " Secret Expressions" that is inspired from the Vietnamese culture. After completing her education at İzmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion Design, the young stylist did master in Milano and now she is raising stylists in Raffles Hanoi, which is considered as the biggest university of Asia.
Ceren Ege prepared the fashion show in 3 months with 5 students and used local motifs and fabrics peculiar to Vietnam. Ege organized the firs fashion show of the university in August 28 and presented her designs to the high-level protocol of Vietnam and fashion enthusiasts. Vietnam press showed great interest in the fashion show made up of the mystical and modern designs of the Turkish academician Ceren Ege.
Handicraft Tradition of 700 years
Ceren Ege underlined that Vietnam was a rich country in terms of handicrafts and traditional clothes and she said, "The feelings that the traditional handicrafts in Vietnam made me feel showed that I was in the right place in my travel to analyze world fashion. The history of these procedures that requires time and patience dates back to 700 years. The young girls are obliged to learn these handicrafts. In these handicrafts, nature, religion and history are pictured by using thin threads. This culture, tradition and incredible handicraft attracted my attention. I used the traditional handicraft of Vietnam in a different and unique way while preparing my collection. The embroideries that are used for the first time on clothes attracted to attention of the Vietnamese too.”

Ceren Ege reminded that she completed her graduate education in Milano on Traditional Clothes, Handicrafts of Anatolia and their adaptation to current fashion designs and she emphasized that the cultures had similarities. Ege said, “In my researches I found out that these embroideries were never used on clothes and fabric decoration before. They were not even modernized or processed. The use of these embroideries for the first time on clothes attracted great attention. In my 8th fashion show named “Secret Expressions", I made the Vietnamese craftsmen in a village near Hanoi process abstract motives with silk yarns. I tried to tell the way that Vietnam made me feel.”
