IUE distinctness in ERASMUS
Expanding the borders so as to internationalize according to the strategic plan of 2010-2014, İzmir University of Economics has focused on signing agreements with foreign universities. Underlining the fact that they raised the number of agreed universities from 56 to 78, Asst. Prof. Mahmut Ali Gökçe, the head of the International Relations Office, said: “Every year, an increasing number of our students continue their educations in the universities within the framework of ERASMUS. What is important here is that there is a considerable increase in the number of the foreign students as well as our students who go abroad. Furthermore, academicians from different parts of Europe visit our university every year within the framework of ERASMUS and give lectures in the scope of the Teaching Staff Mobility. Within this scope, Prof. Osvaldi Gervasi, who works in the University of Perugia, which is our partner in Italy, organized two seminars in our university. ERASMUS mobility is a very significant point for our university.”
Besides students, while 27 teaching staff have come to İzmir University of Economics to give lectures, 31 teaching staff have gone to Europe to do that. The students of İzmir University of Economics primarily prefer France, Spain, Austria, Holland, Germany, and Portugal, whereas students in the countries Holland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and France prefer İzmir University of Economics.
