ASST. PROF. BIRESSELIOĞLU'S BOOK IS IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA
The book titled “European Energy Security: The Impact and Role of Turkey in the Future” written by Asst.Prof. Mehmet Efe Biresselioğlu, head of the department of Sustainable Energy at Izmir University of Economics, has been published by Palgrave MacMillan, one of the leading publishing houses in the world. The book by Asst.Prof. Biresselioğlu, Vice Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences has created positive reactions in the sector.
In parallel with the need for energy that is one of the most important requirements of national power and economic development and with the period in which energy increased its strategic role in both Turkey and in the world, “energy security” was drawn and searched by Asst. Prof. Biresselioğlu. Mentioning the importance of the book because of its being the first and the only one related to Turkey in Energy, Climate and Environment Series, Asst. Prof. Biresselioğlu said that the book analyzed the challenges that European Energy Security faces and the possible role of Turkey in this area. He added that the book also analyzed the energy profiles of Turkey and Europe along with Turkey’s transit role in natural gas and petrol’s way from Caspian Sea, Middle East and North Africa to the west.
Noting that the book has been published by one of the biggest publishing houses, Palgrave Macmillan, Asst. Prof. Biresselioğlu said that his book is the first book published in this series. He also pointed out that the book emphasized the relationship between geopolitics and energy security, the relationship between sources of natural gas and petrol and geography, the increasing importance of energy security, and the importance of energy on foreign politics building and on international relations.
