WORKING FOR STUDENTS WITH THE LEVIN FELLOWSHIP IN AMERIKA
Izmir University of Economics academician Asst. Prof. Dr. Evrim Üstünlüoğlu, has achieved a phenomenal success on behalf of Turkey by qualifying to obtain the Levin Fellowship of the Levin Institute supported by the State University of New York (SUNY).
Director of School of Foreign Languages, Asst. Prof. Dr. Üstünlüoğlu has been invited to the United States of America to do research on English language teaching. Asst.Prof.Dr. Üstünlüoğlu, who has travelled to New York on October 17, has been working on, “Language Teaching Program Design”.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Üstünlüoğlu, who’s been entitled to a month long fellowship offered to small number of academicians in Turkey, stated that her goal is to determine the difficulties that the students face in learning foreign languages. She said, “My research includes in class observations and teachers’ and students ‘opinions on language proficiency of dual diploma program students. My purpose is to find out the difficulties the students are having when they go to America for education purposes. I believe, preparing education programs to work on these difficulties and inadequacies will be beneficial to students.
