RETURNED FROM HOLLAND WITH A CUP
Izmir University of Economics students have won a project competition sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science within the context of Netherlands –Turkey trade relations. In 2012, The Netherlands and Turkey will celebrate their 400 years of trade relations on government representatives’ level.
Besides IUE, Bahçeşehir University from Turkey and Utrecht University and Rotterdam University from Netherlands have also attended the competition organized by the Turkish Institute in Netherlands. Students have received the cup from Netherlands Rotterdam Ambassador Togan Aral on behalf of Turkey and have presented the cup to IUE President of the Board of Trustees Ekrem Demirtaş. President Demirtaş thanked the students and said that, “I sincerely congratulate our students and faculty members for achieving a phenomenal success for 2012 which is a very important year in terms of Netherlands- Turkey trade relations”.
Students have attended this competition as a result of powerful collaborations of Department of International Trade and Finance and under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Fehmi Baklacı, of Department of International Trade and Finance. The group, including Department of Economics student Tezer Yelkenci, Department of International Trade and Finance student Merve İlayda Çadırcı, Department of Business Administration students Özgecan Üstgül and Aysema Demir and Department of Industrial System Engineering student Gamze Mat has achieved a phenomenal success and won a cup on behalf of our university by creating job plans for solar energy companies in Netherlands who plan to make investments in Turkey.
