IUE WILL HOST NATO
NATO declared 2012, Year of Turkey, to celebrate 60th anniversary of Turkish membership and held a meeting for Turkish academics in Belgium. At the meeting, decision has been made on the first activity to be the forum to be hosted by Izmir University of Economics in order to publicize NATO under the coordinatorship of Turkish Council of International Relations.
Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations and EU lecturer Asst. Prof. Dr. Balkan Devlen has attended the meeting in Brussels on behalf of IUE to which 19 leading academicians of Turkey were invited. The meeting’s aim was to exchange ideas about NATO publicity for 2012 which includes promotion seminars and conferences.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Balkan Devlen has stated that, all the decisions have been made by a consensus and they would be implemented in 2012. He said that, “It was a great deal of honour to attend this meeting on behalf of Izmir University of Economics. At the end of the meetings, by taking NATO’s long existence in Izmir into consideration, a decision has been made to organize the first activity at IUE and this is such a good development for Izmir”.
