PROF. DR. BALTACIOĞLU TAKES OVER IN IUE
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu has been appointed as acting Rector to Izmir University of Economics after Prof. Dr. Atilla Sezgin has resigned from his duty.
Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu, who has initiated establishment of so many new departments in IUE for the past ten years, has taken over duty from Prof. Dr. Sezgin as of January 1, 2012. Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu has played a significant role in opening Logistics Management, Culinary Arts and Management which are offered for the first time in IUE, and he’s also played a significant role in laying the foundation for Vocational School and Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu, who’s known for his academic achievements as well as his active engagement with business world, has also held the office as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Central Anatolian Exporters Union in the past.
Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu, who’s been a Vice Rector to Izmir University of Economics since 2006, said that he would successfully fulfil his duty. He’s also expressed that IUE has achieved to be among the leading universities of Turkey, he’s said, “our university’s status among the world universities is very important besides its academic achievements. We’re the first foundation university to be awarded with ECTS Label. We’ve been a pilot university during Bologna process. I believe we’ll go further with these achievements.”
Who’s Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu?
He’s graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration in 1969, and has completed his doctoral degree in Marketing Management at the same university in 1975. He’s become an associate professor in 1979 and a professor in 1989 at Gazi University. He’s also held the office as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Central Anatolian Exporters Union in 1993-1999. Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu has come to Izmir University of Economics in 2002 as Vocational School Director after having served as a general director at Oba and Orsan Holdings. Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu has been an academic member for ten years and has been Vice Rector for the past 5 years in IUE.
