YOUNG TRANSLATORS TARGET BRUSSELS
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Art and Science, Department of Translation and Interpretation students are anxiously waiting to hear the results for “Young Translators” competition, held by Ministry for EU Affairs, to be announced in January.
The students have successfully represented IUE at the competition which was held in order to contribute to train translators who play an important role during Turkey’s European Union accession period. Merve Avşaroğlu, Özden Şahin, and Hikmet Mengüaslan have represented IUE at the “Young Translators” competition where a total of 94 students from 21 universities and 3 Vocational Schools have competed against each other.
The results for “Young Translators” competition, carried out by Translation Coordination Directorate within Ministry for EU Affairs, are expected to be announced at the end of January. The students who can make it to the top three will be able to visit translation departments of EU institutions based in Brussels.
