HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT IS BEING INTRODUCED AT IUE
United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative of Turkey Shahid Najam, will introduce 2011 Human Development Report titled “Sustainability and Equity: A Better Future for All” at Izmir University of Economics.
Human Development Report, which will be publicized in Izmir for the first time, will be introduced by (UNDP) Resident Representative of Turkey Shahid Najam on Thursday, March 1 at Izmir University of Economics Conference Hall. Prof. Dr. Turhan Subaşat will submit his opinions and evaluations about the content and procedure of the report after Shahid Najam’s presentation is over. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Director of Research and Graduate Policies, will be moderating the introduction seminar.
Turkey ranks 92nd among 187 countries with a value of 0.699 according to Human Development Index (HDI). Turkey ranks 77th among 146 countries with a value of 0.443 in Gender Inequality Index. There are also other indices in the report such as Inequality-adjusted HDI and Multidimensional Poverty Index. Human Development Report will be publicized in Çanakkale, Konya, Trabzon, Gaziantep and Erzurum as well after Izmir introduction.
