THE STUDENTS OBSERVED THE PRODUCTION ON-SITE
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students went on a technical field trip to Çanakkale.
Approximately 40 sophomores, juniors, and seniors of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design had a chance to learn about their careers on-site at the trip to Kale Ceramics Factory in Çanakkale. The students, who attended the trip under the guidance of Lecturer Zeynep Edes and research assistants İpek Kaştaş and Hande Atmaca of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, visited Kalesinterflex Factory, Vitrified and Acrylic Factories, Ceramics Factory and Trim-Decor.
The trip, which was made possible by the efforts of Mert Babür, Kale Company customer relations official, Ümit Uysal, job security specialist, Hakan Pazarbaşı, calibration official and Anıl Fuat Ülkem of Vanda Organization, provided the students a chance to see firsthand about how the products they saw as standard indoor materials were prepared as a result of a long and extensive effort and they got informed about these products which they will be using frequently in their professional lives. Kale, which was established in 1957, is known for the importance it places to education.
The students, examining every step of production at factories thoroughly, visited the antique city of Troy on the last day of the trip. Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students will be submitting all kinds of information they recorded visually and manually throughout the trip in a report. Plans are being made for future partnerships with Kale.
