STUDENTS OF IUE AWARDED TÜBİTAK 2209 UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS RESEARCH PROJECTS SUPPORT
Students of IUE Faculty of Arts and Science, Department of Mathematics Cansu ADAŞ, Mustafa AŞÇI and Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Computer Engineering, Ufuk BOZKURT awarded TÜBİTAK 2209 support (domestic / foreign research project supporting programme for university student) with a project called “Decision Support System for Doctor Schedule Problem”.
The project is consulted by academic member of Department of Mathematics Assoc. Prof. G. Yazgı TÜTÜNCÜ and aimed to improve the quality of service in hospitals by increasing productivity of doctors with various optimization methods. The contribution of the project to the literature is very important in both theory and application because there are only a few examples about doctor scheduling problem in literature that provides efficient solution methods.
Students were planning to complete the project in two steps and they summarized these steps as "Justice" and "Time". When the project is completed, doctor schedule can be done in a very fair way and at the shortest time. A user interface of prototype for scheduling will be created that can be used easily by everybody and it will be tested by İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, department of otolaryngology. The project is in cooperation with Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, department of otolaryngology and in the future it also aims to create a decision support system that can be used in all hospitals.
