IUE SIGNED A PROTOCOL WITH KIZILAY
Izmir University of Economics signed a protocol with Turkish Red Crescent Regional Blood Centre within the scope of “Safe Blood Supply Program”. The protocol will provide training for students, academic and administrative personnel of Izmir University of Economics on blood donation.
The training will start as soon as possible with the protocol signed between Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu, Rector of Izmir University of Economics, and Dr. Gökay Gök, Director of Turkish Red Crescent Aegean Region Blood Centre. Prof. Dr. Baltacıoğlu stated that 6 thousand 500 students, and approximately one thousand academic and administrative personnel, as well as their families would be trained as part of the protocol. He said, “Blood donation plays an important role as part of social responsibilities we owe to our society. We will have an opportunity to raise public awareness as a result of the training our students, as well as our academic and administrative personnel will receive. We are very proud to take part in this campaign as Izmir University of Economics.”
Gökay Gök stated that last year they trained 400 thousand individuals in Aegean Region on blood donation and diseases transmitted by blood, and said they planned to reach 600 thousand people in 2013. Gök pointed out the importance of universities in this sense, and thanked Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu for their contributions and collaboration.
