COOKIE MONSTERS ARE COMPETING

The cookie competition, organized by Izmir University of Economics - Department of Culinary Arts and Management for all high school students city wise, is coming to an end with great interest.

Department of Culinary Arts and Management held a gastronomy contest, titled, “Awaken the Cookie Monster in You” among high school students in order to support and evaluate them, and improve their creativity in the field of culinary arts, and make them come up with authentic recipes. The jury members, themselves, will taste the cookies of 40 candidates that made to the finals, and announce the winners for the competition where students with approximately 350 recipes attended to.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nilgün Gürkaynak, Director of IUE School of Applied Management Sciences, stated that high school students in Izmir showed great interest to the competition. She said "Interested students primarily filled out the application form on our website. We received more than 350 applications. Subsequent to that, Dr. Oetker sent a gift pack containing their own products to students’ home addresses. Some of the students used these products, while some of them made their own recipes.  We wanted them to record themselves and share it on Facebook as they were preparing their recipes.  As a result, many tasty and entertaining recipes come out.”  Asst. Prof. Dr. Nilgün Gürkaynak, invited all of the contestants to the final competition, sponsored by Dr. Oetker, which will take place on Saturday, April 6, at 11.00 at Izmir University of Economics Conference Hall.

At the finals that will be held on Saturday, the jury members will taste 40 recipes and announce the finalists.  Also, a tea-cookies party will be held for all the contestants. The winner of the competition will be granted 3 gold coins, person in second place will be granted 2 gold coins, and person in third place will be granted one gold coin. All three winners will also receive Dr. Oetker gift packs.
