STUDENTS OF YACHT DESIGN ARE AT BODRUM SHIP YARD
Izmir University of Economics, Graduate School of Social Sciences, Yacht Design Program students and lecturers organized a technical trip to Bodrum Yacht Construction Museum and Ship Yards in Içmeler Region.
7 graduate degree program students along with faculty members Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Ergül, Asst. Prof. Dr. Markus Wilsing, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tolga Benli visited Bodrum Yacht Construction Museum and got briefing from Sema Sagat, the Museum Director. Students observed the models of Bodrum style gulet that became a part of world literature, and models by Ali Kemal Denizaslanı, former master of yacht design. Later on, they had a chance to see the construction of a 47 meter long single-masted sail boat at Esen ship yard.
Students received their first job offers from Tim Saunders, working with ship yard crew, and his design team. Students also visited Roda ship yard as part of their technical trip, and had a chance to get information from boat engineer Fuat Turan on production process and implementation methods about a 30 meter wooden boat. Their trip came to an end after visiting Ağanlar and Etemoğlu ship yards and Sultan Marine’I .
Students of Yacht Design Program, started to work on their yacht models in light of the information they gathered at the technical trip.
