11 students who will graduate from Fashion Design this year, and an Erasmus student prepared a graduation collection together, titled the “Reincarnation”. Lecturers Jörn Fröhlich and Selin Dartar coordinated the project team where the students presented their last collection before they entered their professional life.
Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu, who made the opening speech of the Fashion Show, stated that they were glad to provide the qualified education necessary to open the door to big accomplishments that the youth would display in the future. Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, said, “This year’s theme, “Reincarnation”, the collection prepared by students, is based on the re-interpretation of antique decorative elements of Ottoman Culture. The objects, which were taken from mythology, calligraphy, chinaware, jewellery design, architecture, caftan, warrior, Turkish bathhouse, and harem cultures, and carefully analysed, inspired the students for creative clothing designs.”
The collection of 69 pieces, which involved clothing designs prepared by experimental printing and creative fabric manipulation techniques, reflected the cultural enrichment of Turkey. The famous models Didem Soydan, Nur Gümüşdoğrayan, Merve Büyüksaraç, the popular names of runway, exhibited the designs with a fascinating show. While some of the designs took the audience to the harem of Dolmabahçe Palace, some of them took to the jewelleries of the Sultans. Akif Örük from Rönesans Agency was in charge of the choreography.
