MATH GENIUSES WILL CONTINUE THEIR ACADEMIC JOURNEY
Kemalbay and Giner, who brought a different point of view to finance and control studies, took their place among notable publications of IUE with their articles in internationally recognized journals. Kemalbay will continue her academic life, while Giner will engage in post-doctoral studies at University of Melbourne, Australia.
Graduate of Applied Mathematics and Statistics Doctorate Program, Gülder Kemalbay stated that she applied for the program as soon as it was offered. She said, “I was thinking about continuing my academic career abroad, but when the program started in 2009 I opted for Izmir University of Economics because of the international academic staff and course contents. My studies were published in ‘Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics’, an internationally recognized journal”. Kemalbay indicated that her thesis would be used in areas such as finance and credibility.
Göknur Giner, on the other hand, stated that she would continue her post-doctoral studies at University of Melbourne, Australia, and that completing her doctoral studies at IUE was one of the best decisions she ever made. Giner, whose article was published in ‘Brazilian Journal of Probability and Statistics’ said, “We developed models that would contribute to quality control studies and insurance models in my thesis. It was of utmost important to have worked with Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu. We are also grateful for the opportunities the University offered to us during our doctoral study”.
