HATS OFF TO TURKISH PROFESSOR
The whole world applauds the contributions of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in the field of mathematics. Prof. Dr. Murat Adıvar, Vice Rector and Faculty Member in the Department of Mathematics at Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Izmir University of Economics, has been awarded the title of “Professor Emeritus” at the World Global Optimization Conference, by Anhui State University in People’s Republic of China. The title, which was being awarded to scientists in USA every year, was awarded to a Turkish scientist for the first.
Prof. Dr. Murat Adıvar was the first Turkish Professor to be awarded the title of Professor Emeritus due to his contributions in the field of Global Optimization and Mathematics at the biannual conference organized by Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, and Anhui State University of Science and Technology. In the special ceremony held as part of the conference, with the participation of world’s leading 156 scholars from 18 countries, Prof. Panos Pardolos, University of Florida, USA, Prof. Christodoulos A. Floudas, Princeton University, USA, and Prof. Dr. Shu-Cherng Fang, North Carolina State University, USA were also awarded the title of Professor Emeritus.
Prof. Dr. Murat Adıvar said, “Izmir University of Economics provides all kinds of support to advance the science of mathematics. We are working under the guidance of Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu, the head of the department and one of most respected names in the field. Success and recognition are natural outcomes.” Prof. Dr. Adıvar stated that they were encouraged by the students who set their hearts on the science of mathematics, and they invited young mathematicians to IUE.
