IUE TO MARK A NEW EPOCH IN HEALTH
Prof. Dr. Çağ Çal, Lecturer of IUE Department of Health Management, stated that they paved the way in the field of health as a university, and future health employees would be educated in IUE ecole. Çal, who indicated that they were not interested in an ostentatious hospital, therefore they would be building their own hospital and laboratories, stated, “We don’t aim to save the day. We are going to find the best of the best, and work with the institutions with best operating systems. We are taking the first step this year”.
Çal also indicated that they intended to teach the information by producing it not memorizing it. They would be providing education in most wanted fields. He said, “Academicians have an understanding of ‘How can I do this better?’ We had three mainstays when we decided to provide education in the field of health as Izmir University of Economics. First of all, we aim to teach the profession to people who want to work in health field. Secondly, we want to provide health services, and finally we want to produce information. We don’t want students to memorize the information; we will learn and teach by producing information. We will show every effort to produce information in fundamental medicine, laboratories, clinics, and research studies.”
Çal also pointed out that the health employees trained by IUE would make a difference with their qualified education, occupational skills, and first class service understanding. Çal said:
“The biggest boss for every health employee in Turkey is the state. The state is insistently decreasing the health budget in the last ten years. Legal arrangements are being made in this regard. Usually, the education level and type of public employees don’t matter. When the health institutions change hands, new bosses will focus on where and how their employees got their education. We will train the most qualified, skilful health workers for the sector.”
