MEMBERS OF ITO EDUCATION AND HEALTH FOUNDATION WELCOMED 2014
The founding organization of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Izmir Chamber of Commerce Health and Education Foundation, welcomed 2014 with its members at a New Year’s party held at IUE Conference Hall. The members enjoyed a night of dances and songs, and wished each other a happy new year at the party hosted by Ekrem Demirtaş, Chairman of the Executive Board of ITO Health and Education Foundation. Chairman Demirtaş and the Executive Board cut the New Year’s cake together.
The members, who danced to the exquisite songs of the Aegean Band Orchestra, had wonderful time at the party which lasted until the late hours of the night. IUE Latin Dances Club also livened up the party with their performances. Chairman Ekrem Demirtaş pointed out that the foundation hit the top in education by establishing the University. He said, "When it came to health, we could not go beyond a polyclinic, the foundation was behind in health area. But now we are establishing a Faculty of Medicine within the body of Izmir University of Economics. We will also open a Geriatric Hospital in Güzelbahçe for our elder members. The elderly used to go to nursing homes. Healthy Living Centre will open in Güzelbahçe. We are going to hit the top in health as well.”
Over 1 million TL cash budget
Chairman Demirtaş, who pointed out the importance of serving ITO Health and Education Foundation community, stated the following:
"This community deserves more, and we will continue to serve this community as long as you support us. Our Executive Board continues to work avidly and eagerly. What else can the foundation do more? We are willing to hear your feedbacks.
ITO Foundation has not received any outside grants so far. All the accomplishments are a mere result of the efforts of the foundation, members donating their attendance fees, and the budget created with 1 percent of ITO budget. The legal system does not allow us to save our budget. We are required by law to spend the 80 percent of our budget each year. Currently, we have a cash budget of over 1 million lira. We support the education of children of our members or our country when necessary.”
Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu, Rector of Izmir University of Economics also attended the New Year’s party along with the members and employees of ITO Foundation.
