STUDENTS OF IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS ARE SHOWERED WITH AWARDS
Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design returned from competitions with awards. While Kaan Selçuk, junior student of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design came in first place, Tayfun Çelik, senior students of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design received an encouragement award at KOÇTAŞ Açık Fikir Interior Design Competition.
Selçuk, who stated that he entered the competition as part of the Design Competition Project Course, said, “I entered the competition with a book shelf design that will enable different use and arrangement options for everyone. I worked on this for two and a half month. It was a very good experience for me”. Selçuk stated that it was the first competition he entered. In addition to the monetary award, Selçuk qualified for a 3 month internship and his design will be on sale at KOÇTAŞ stores.
Award winning studio apartment design
Senior student Tayfun Çelik, the recipient of the encouragement award, stated that he entered the competition with a studio apartment design. “Interior design competitions are not that common. I designed a studio apartment for a single person, focusing on a comfortable environment that would ease and facilitate the life of the individual,” said Çelik.
