IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS WILL LEAD THE WAY IN DIGITAL EDUCATION
Izmir University of Economics will be offering both the classical education and the advantages of technology via a digital education platform. Students will be able to take course notes, share their assignments in a digital environment in addition to the traditional course structure when the new registration period begins on September 1. Students and lecturers will have access to academic information on digital campus without time and location limitation.
Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Rector of Izmir University of Economics, stated that they’ve given great significance to technology since the establishment of the university. The Rector said, “Our students and academicians were offered e-mail, web space and disk space services from the very first day. Interactive use of information was provided. We are following through a new plan of ours in the new academic year. We will make sure to bring together the students and academicians in a digital environment. Here there will be course materials such as course notes, course videos, etc. We’ve created a digital platform where they can even share their assignments. We’ve created an integrated structure within principal axis of smart phones, tablets, laptops.”
Prof. Dr. Esen also pointed out that the classical education would continue, but in addition to that students would be able to access their course notes, ask questions to their lecturers free of time and location. The Rector said that use of distance education tools within the campus also increased internationally and Izmir University of Economics would lead the way in this area as well. Prof. Dr. Esen stated the following:
“This way, the course contents become more dynamic, flexible and accessible. Data accumulated in digital platform enables a more customized education and assessment. Students will no longer be ordinary consumers of course content, they will learn by applying and creating more. With the new registration period starting on September 1, the students will benefit from both the classical education and digital education means. We’ve established a “Learning and Teaching Centre” for students and academicians. The centre will focus on learning problems and come up with methods to overcome these, and also focus on training the trainers.”
