THE LIGHT OF EDUCATION ON MILAS
A protocol was signed between Reşit Özer, Chairman of Executive Board of Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ekrem Demirtaş, Chairman of Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce and President of IUE Board of Trustees, for a bright future of Milas youth. First degree blood relatives of members of Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry qualified for 15% discount in annual tuition fees of Izmir University of Economics as part of the protocol. Along with Demirtaş and Özer, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Mehmet Yiğit, Vice Chair of Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Halil İbrahim Gülen and Soner Çamlıbelen, Members of the Executive Board the ceremony that took place at Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
President Ekrem Demirtaş stated that he completed elementary and middle school in Milas, and he had to go to Istanbul for high school as there were none in Milas then. He said, “There weren’t any high schools in Milas then. There were high schools in Muğla, Aydın, and Izmir. At the time Milas had a population of 10 thousand compared to the 130 thousand now. A significant excavation took place that would make the city become a very important tourism city in the country with its history, trade, industry, and traditional artifacts. Milas will become more attractive with King Cemeteries and castle area opening for touristic visits. Almost all of the Milas youth is receiving their education. We hope to see them at Izmir University of Economics. Rest assured we will prepare them for life in the best possible way. Izmir University of Economics is the first university founded by Izmir Chamber of Commerce. We are offering 15% discount for the first degree blood relatives of sibling chambers in our 14th year. All Milas youth is welcome at the university founded by someone from Milas”.
‘Contributing to the Education’
Chairman Reşit Özer stated that they had many students studying at Izmir University of Economics, and that number would even increase more with the scholarship offered. Özer said, “Number of students will increase in the coming semesters. Milas is a city of civilizations. There are ruins in the city. Such a protocol will contribute greatly to the education of our youth.”
After the ceremony, Demirtaş and Özer toured around the historical areas in city.
