WOMEN WILL LOOK STYLISH VIA CLOTHING PLATFORM
Women will be able to have access to clothing designs that fit their bodies on the internet. They will be able to identify clothes that match their bodies based on design, trend, color, season, and special occasions thanks to a TUBITAK Project developed by academicians of Izmir University of Economics.
In addition to shopping criteria such as color and style, perfect body fit will also be significant in the project coordinated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Arzu Vuruşkan, Vice Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, where Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Türker İnce, Head of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Güzeliş, Director of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences also take part in.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Arzu Vuruşkan, who gave information about “Development of Clothing Design Platform via Smart Systems” titled project, indicated that internet was highly preferred for shopping, especially clothes shopping. Vuruşkan said that they wanted to carry out this project taking online shopping statistics into consideration to make shoppers happy. She said, “We are working on a web-based platform which offers clothing design suggestions based on different body types of users. The user identifies their body type on the system. The system, then, comes up with a combination of clothes that fit the body type, and in doing that, it uses the clothing design archive as a resource which is uploaded to the system before. Different collections will be available. Clothes that fit the body type of the user will be recommended only.”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Vuruşkan stated that a person may like the color, style, fabric of the garment, but easily gives up if it does not fit their body. “Body fitting clothes is the most important satisfaction criteria when it comes to shopping for clothes. Our project will allow women to identify clothes they like which fit their body shapes. They will be satisfied by purchasing clothes that match their criteria. They will be able to make decisions more quickly by eliminating the search for right clothes, and actually enjoy their shopping. We will mainly focus on designs that fit body shapes. These will be uploaded on the web page. Software will be developed and offered to the users,” said Vuruşkan.
