WOMEN WILL SELECT THEIR STYLE ONLINE
Women will love the new system that learns their taste in design and body shape. In the application called “Shopshape” designed by the academicians of Izmir University of Economics, women will find their design suiting their body shapes on the internet. In this way, they will be able to get advice on clothing design according to their body shapes and have a shopping environment peculiar to themselves.
The project is pioneered by Ass. Prof. Arzu Vuruşkan, lecturer at Fashion and Design department of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Prof.Dr Ender Yazgan Bulgun,lecturer at Fashion and Design department of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Assoc. Prof. Türker İnce, department head of Electrical-Electronics at IUE and Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Güzeliş also work for the same project. In this project, women’s shopping criteria on clothing in cyber space will match up with colour, style and body shape.
Ass.Prof. Arzu Vuruşkan pointed out that people shop online frequently and most of the time buy clothes. By taking into consideration the rate of shopping online and people’s satisfaction, they have decided to carry out the project, said Assoc. Prof. Vuruşkan and added that “The application of Shopshape has been designed to be system which learns people’s taste and suggests clothing according to their body shape. All over the world and in Turkey, there are web sites and plattforms providing suggestions of fashion, style and design specific to the users. The suggestions are based on the statistical data obtained from the users. What is original about our project is that our application has interaction with the users and creates a shopping environment that learns the users’s taste in design.
Stating that they have created a web-based plattform suggesting clothing design according to people’s body shapes, Assoc. Prof. Vuruşkan said that the user defines his/her body shape on the system and the system creates the appropriate clothing combination. She also noted that the web site has a design archive of nearly 2,000 clothes. She added: “The most important satisfaction criterion in clothing shopping is the suitability of the clothing to the body shape. By our application, women will be able to choose the most suitable clothes according to their taste and body shape. They will be satisfied with their shopping by buying the clothes we suggested. The duration of indecision will go down and they will shop faster.“
