DESIGNS BEYOND BORDERS
IUE fashion designers are going global with the. As the graduates of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), are displaying their designs at the fair, they are also engaging in collaboration agreements with participants coming from different parts of the world. By signing agreements with countries such as France, Germany, England, Russia, Dubai, and Iran, the young fashion designers are going global with their collections.
IUE Graduates Duygu Karasu Ergüney, Derya Kıymaz, Büşra Edibali, Gözde Karadana, and Nazlı Terzioğlu made an overwhelming impression on the international companies visiting the IF Wedding Fashion Izmir fair.
Duygu Karasu Ergüney, graduate of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, reported that they participated in the fair for the first time. She said, “The education we received allowed us to improve our design skills. We worked at different companies and gained experience. Today, we are creating our own designs. My older sister Derya Kıymaz and I presented our designs to participants from Dubai, France, Arabia, and took the first step towards collaborations”.
Fashion designer Büşra Edebali stated that she created her own brand three years after she graduated, and reported that foreign customers were more interested in her designs. Edebali stated that she focused on bridal designs and said, “Our collections attract more attention because of our designer background. We gain experience and get a chance to display our designs at fairs worldwide”.
Also created her own brand, Nazlı Terzioğlu, pointed that the fair created such a professional environment, and that she had a chance to send her designs to four countries last year. Terzioğlu said, “I have sent my designs to Germany, London, Russia, and Iran. We do not do mass production, it is more of a collection concept, and that attracts attention. I believe that the number of countries I will be collaborating with will increase this year.” And Gözde Karadana stated that she shaped her brand through the power of Karadana said, “This fair paves the way for young designers. Thanks to our international connections, our designs are going global”.
