Enthusiastic graduation at Izmir University of Economics
79 students, who completed their master’s and doctoral education at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), received their diplomas at an enthusiastic graduation ceremony. In his speech, IUE Rector, Prof. Murat Aşkar pointed that thanks to the high-quality education offered by the University, they were able to raise well-equipped individuals with high self-confidence, who can develop solutions to subjects with different perspectives. Prof. Aşkar said, “I strongly believe that our graduates will become the future leaders and scientists needed for a stronger and more developed Turkey”.
The graduation ceremony, for 76 Master’s students and 3 Ph.D. students, took place at Multi-Purpose Hall of Building D. Among the attended were IUE Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar, Vice Rector Prof. Çiğdem Kentmen Çin, Assoc. Prof. Efe Biresselioğlu, Acting Director of School of Graduate Studies, and a crowd of academics and parents of graduates. Students, who finally received their diplomas they had been dreaming for a long time, shared their happiness with their parents, friends, and teachers. Some of the graduates attended the ceremony with their spouses and children, which made it more interesting and charming.
“I have no doubt they will be taking the necessary steps”
Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar reminded that we were in an age where competition reached its highest in every level. Prof. Aşkar said, “The value and importance of information increases each passing day. We have to become individuals who are open to innovations, who can generate knowledge and opinions. Graduate education, received from the experts, and specialization, gain a great deal of significance in this respect. Our graduates, in line with the strong vision, values, and philosophy of the University, went through a high-quality education in every sense. I have no doubt that they will be taking the steps necessary to continue their development as well-equipped individuals with high self-confidence, who can develop solutions to subjects with different perspectives.”

Prof. Dr. Aşkar continued his speech as follows: “When you are planning your future, please keep in mind that Izmir University of Economics is your academic family. You will always have a distinguished place in this family. We will be honored to support you. I strongly believe that you will become the future leaders and scientists we need for a stronger and more developed Turkey. When I look at you, I see the youth our Headmaster Mustafa Kemal Ataturk wanted us to raise. Youth with their own opinions, knowledge, and conscience. We are certain that you will carry out this historical assignment and legacy.”
“Source of pride”
Prof. Dr. Aşkar, who stated that they believed the graduates of Izmir University of Economics would achieve successes in their country and overseas, said, “As of today, you will be representing our country, university and your families in every platform. You will be our source of pride with successes you will achieve here and overseas. I would like to congratulate you, our faculty members, and your families once again. I hope that you will continue to maintain ties with the University from now on.”
