A great interest to Campus Izmir
Prospective student counseling service started by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in order to help students make the right decisions about their education choices, has attracted great attention of the prospective students and their parents from day one. A team of 100 people including academicians, guidance counselors and volunteering students started one-on-one meetings with the candidates at three different locations on Campus Izmir, one of a kind university-industry collaboration model nationwide. Prof. Murat Borovalı, Consultant to IUE Board of Trustees (General Coordinator) stated that making the right university/program choice was just as important as the examination period. Prof. Murat Borovalı said, “During this time, it is very important to get help from people who are experts in their field, have good command about the subject, and are dependable. We hope to see all prospective students at the University.”
With the announcement of results for Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), hundreds of thousands of students now feel anxious about making the right choice about their future careers and placement. Prospective university students, who are overly selective about their major choices, are now facing a tough process, and Izmir University of Economics is more than willing to help them with a specialized team. The University started its “Prospective Student Counseling Service”. Hundreds of prospective university students visit the campus with their friends and family, get information about the programs, take a tour on campus, talk to current students, pick their brain, and ask many questions. The “Izmir University of Economics Prospective Student Counseling Service” event will go on until July 29, 2019 including weekends.
“Supporting all prospective students”
Murat Borovalı, Consultant to IUE Board of Trustees (General Coordinator) stated that they provided guidance services to the prospective university students and their families. Prof. Borovalı said, “Prospective university students, who left behind a tough examination period, are now going through a process just as important. The choices they will be making in a short period are going to determine their future career, future life. Therefore, they need to think thoroughly and make the right decision. They need expert help. They need to get help from people who are experts in their field, have good command about the subject, and are dependable. We are going to support prospective students with a team of academicians, guidance counselors and volunteering students during such an important stage. We expect to see them at Izmir University of Economics.”
“Campus Izmir will be beneficial to students”
Prof. Borovalı also gave information about Campus Izmir stating that it was a synergy created by the initiative of Izmir Chamber of Commerce and Izmir University of Economics, and that the model, which was a first in Turkey, would bring many advantages to students. Prof. Borovalı said, “We created Campus Izmir, a first model of university-city integration in Turkey, by taking the students into consideration. Campus Izmir is a synergy created by the energy of Izmir University of Economics, initiative of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, and the potential of Izmir! Qualified companies, high technology bases, logistics and export centers in the city are now a part of our campus. This way, while our students continue their education, they will get a chance to perform internship, work part-time at logistic centers, high technology zones, factories, hospitals, government services of Izmir. As their education continues, students will be integrated into the business world. With guaranteed internship opportunities, students will take firm steps into their future with the experience they gain and networking opportunities. Moreover, we will be contributing greatly to the art, cuisine, industry and economy of Izmir as the University.”

The Rector of Izmir University of Economics, Prof. Murat Aşkar reported that the University offered education in 35 undergraduate programs within 8 faculties, 28 associate programs within 3 vocational schools and 2 schools, and 30 masters programs and 6 doctoral programs. Prof. Aşkar said, “Our technological infrastructure allow our students an environment where they can self-develop comfortably and conduct research in their chosen field freely. We offer ‘Smart Campus’ which does not limit learning with course hours, and allow students access to course materials on digital environment. As an innovative University, which meets the requirements of the age we live in, we strive to raise the young people needed by our country.
