Clinical Psychologist in demand will be trained at Izmir University of Economics
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Psychology opens its doors to students who want to pursue their academic studies by doing masters in the field of clinical psychology. IUE Department of Psychology completed all preparations to offer best quality education to prospective graduate students. The medium of education will be in English and applications will be made to the School of Graduate Studies until 2 September. The introductory meeting of the program will take place on Wednesday, 31 July 2019 at 18.30 at Izmir Chamber of Commerce with the participation of Prof. Falih Köksal, Assoc. Prof. Seda Can, and Asst. Prof. Yasemin Meral Öğütçü.
“Increasing demand for psychology specialists”
Prof. Seda Dural, Head of IUE Department of Psychology, reported that they had been working on teaching staff and physical infrastructure for a long time, and after meeting all the requirements, they were ready to offer a high quality clinical master’s program. Prof. Dural said, “The demand for psychology specialists, who are generating valuable knowledge for a more livable world, is strikingly increasing. We did our share to meet the needs of psychology graduates in wanting to pursue quality education in the field clinical psychology.”
“Established a new center”
Prof. Dural, who pointed that a Psychological Support Research and Application Centre was established within the University, said, “Clinical psychology is a broad branch of psychology that focuses on diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. At the same time, it contributes to the individual in terms of establishment of healthy and meaningful relations. Our program is restructured to achieve all these goals. In addition to advanced scientific research labs of the Department of Psychology, we placed great importance to clinical psychology master’s students gaining firsthand experience on meeting with the client and practicing what they learn under the supervision of a specialist. With that purpose, IUE Psychological Support Research and Application Centre was established in a building independent of the campus ready to serve. The Center will carry out social responsibility projects to support psychological health of the society.”
