Izmir University of Economics’ signature to “Good Design”
Izmir University of Economics’ signature to “Good Design” Organized annually by the Mediterranean Academy affiliated to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the "Good Design Izmir" event and the Universities Design and Art Graduation Projects Exhibition (üTAS) took place together.
The exhibition “İyi Tasarım / Good Design Izmir” was formed within the theme of “Cycle” this year. The Vice Dean of Izmir University of Economics Fine Arts and Design Faculty, Dr. Onur Mengi was in charge as the exhibition curator. Asst. Prof. Emre GÖNLÜGÜR and Asst. Prof. Aren Emre KURTGÖZÜ from the Architecture Department served in the theme and program development, and Lecturer Dr. Elif KOCABIYIK, from the Department of Industrial Design, was in charge as the design consultant.
In the event, the interview session named as “A Big Design Experiment: Lille Métropole 2020, World Capital of Design” was moderated by Kocabıyık together with Gökhan Mura, the Vice Dean of Izmir University of Economics Fine Arts and Design Faculty. In the interview named “City Cycles” also hosted Assoc. Prof. Zeynep ARDA, Head, Izmir University of Economics Visual Communication Design Department. Assoc. Prof. Şölen KİPÖZ, from the Fashion and Textile Design Department, and Asst. Prof. Gökhan MURA took part in the event named “Designing the Life Cycle of Design Products”. While Dr. Emre Gönlügür from the Architecture Department was in charge of moderating the interview called “Design in the Orbit of Ecological Cycles”, in the panel “From Farm to Table: Designing the Sustainable Journey of Food”, Industrial Design Department Lecturer Derya Irkdaş Doğu and Instructor Elif Kocabıyık were the panelists. Asst. Prof. Özgül KILINÇARSLAN from the Visual Communication Design served as the moderator in the event “Seventh Continent: 16th Istanbul Biennial Joint Event”. IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design academics and students participated in all the seminars and exhibits that took place throughout the event.
