The project combining music and artificial intelligence is on its way to Denmark
The "Turkey Creative Business Cup" competition, hosted by Izmir University of Economics (IUE), to carry Turkey's power in the creative industries to the international arena and to encourage young people to make new projects, has been concluded. The special software called 'Cevelyn', combining the music industry and artificial intelligence, which was prepared by 3 people working at a software development company in Izmir, came first among 11 teams that made it to the finals among 53 projects. 'Cevelyn', which was selected first by the 8-member jury in the online competition held by IUE Creative Economy Research and Application Center, with participation from different cities, will represent our country in the international organization called, the "Creative Business Cup Global Final-BRIGHT" (Creative Business Cup Global Final-BRIGHT) to be held in Denmark in July.
Dr. Sevay İpek Aydın, Director of Izmir University of Economics Creative Economy Application and Research Center (IUE+KREA), said that 2021 has been chosen as the year of creative industries worldwide.
4 MONTHS PREPARATION PERIOD
Stating that the importance of projects and works based on creativity is gradually increasing, Aydın said that this momentum would continue until 2030. Aydın stated that as IUE+KREA, they are the national representative of the world-renowned Creative Business Network. Aydın said, “We conducted a 4-month comprehensive study on the Creative Business Cup, which we held for the second time this year. In addition to important names in Turkey, there was also participation in the jury from South Africa and Guatemala. Creativity has 4 stages as technological, socio-economic, artistic, and scientific. Many extraordinary projects from different cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, Balıkesir, Bursa and Denizli applied to our competition. The intensity of the participation and the high quality of the projects made the jury, where I am also a member, both happy and made it difficult to make a choice. Creative entrepreneurs, who will represent our country in Denmark, will also receive funding support for the realization of the project if they rank first.”
IZMIR HAS GREAT POTENTIAL
Stating that creative industries are of great importance for the development and economic growth of countries and cities, Dr. Sevay İpek Aydın said, “Throughout its 8,500-year history, Izmir has always managed to be a pioneering city. It has been Turkey's driving force, its door opening to the outside. We are aware that every idea put forward in the name of creativity and every project developed in Izmir, contributes greatly to the brand value of the city. Izmir has the potential to be the creativity center of both our country and the world. We can make Izmir, which is a livable, human and technology friendly city, a center of attraction for creative ideas. I believe that the event we have realized is an important step for all these goals.”
UNIQUE MELODIES FOR EVERY CONTENT
Aysun Demirdöğen, Yiğitcan Şener and Yiğit Eygi, who developed the software called Cevelyn, stated that they have been working on the project for 3 years. They said, “The software we have developed enables the production of desired music or emotion-based melodies in the background of applications such as games, podcasts, movies and videos. The software called Cevelyn, which we developed with the help of artificial intelligence, can also be perceived as a program that produces original sound. For example, you have prepared a game or a short video, however, you cannot find the melody with the appropriate emotion in the background. This software makes this issue no longer a problem. You can also find the music you want by defining emotions such as happiness or anxiety. With Cevelyn, it is possible to publish videos on the internet and create unique melodies according to the content without being subject to copyright.”
