Total of 9 awards to IUE students

The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Club, established within Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which has hosted 274 Erasmus students from 28 different countries in the last 5 years, has collected awards. The club, which was formed by young people studying at IUE to facilitate the integration process of visiting students coming to Izmir for the first time and to enable them to get to know the city, succeeded in receiving awards in 9 of 14 categories as a result of the evaluation made by the Erasmus Student Network Turkey National Board. ESN IUE has been the branch that received the highest number of awards on a categorical basis, in the evaluation carried out among the student clubs affiliated with 41 universities in Turkey.

CATEGORIES STUDENTS SUCCEEDED AT

Mert Kartal, 4^th year student at Department of Civil Engineering, and the President of IUE ESN Club stated that they developed many projects to improve communication with international students during the pandemic period, and that they made a difference in this way. Kartal, who gave information on the content of the awards, said, “Erasmus Student Network Turkey National Board reviewed the student clubs' work in the last 1 year in detail. As a result of these, we received the best budget management, best creativity, best website, and best sustainability award. In addition, we were deemed worthy of the best international visibility honor award and the 2^nd best visual production award. We received awards in two separate categories related to collaboration. We managed to rank in the best branch category for 3 years in a row.”

WE HAVE DONE JOINT PROJECTS

Kartal continued as follows: “As the club, we attach great importance to maintaining communication with students who return to their countries after coming to our university within the scope of Erasmus. We get information for students who will go abroad, and we provide an environment where students can share their experiences with each other. We are doing joint projects together. We were very happy to receive the rewards of our efforts and to represent our university in the best possible way.” ESN IUE management includes students Mert Kartal, Buse Pek, Hilal Rana Anarsay, Sıla Özden, Berna Öykü Özbey, Mert Alaçam and Mert Can Uzunoğlu.
