Applications for the photography competition started
Applications have started for the 'International Photography Competition' organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) for the second time this year. This year’s slogan is determined as the 'Boundaries Through Your Lens' for the competition that can be attended by anyone over the age of 18. It was pointed out that the concept of boundaries between people, houses, cities, and countries began to change with the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic, and photographers were asked to describe this situation in the most effective way in the competition. The first prize is 5,000 TL, the second prize is 3,000 TL, and the third prize is 2,000 TL in the competition, which is open to applications until November 15, 2021.
PLAQUES FOR 20 PHOTOS
Applications to the competition, organized by IUE Art Coordinatorship, can be made at photocompetition.ieu.edu.tr. In the competition, which is also open to participation from abroad, plaques will be awarded to 20 photographs that are entitled to be exhibited. Contestants will be able to apply to the competition with a maximum of 3 photographs, either in color or black and white.
WE EXPECT GREAT INTEREST
IUE Art Coordinator Sinemis Eser Akaoğlu stated that they expect great interest in the competition this year, as they did last year. Akaoğlu said, “In the competition we held as Izmir University of Economics for the first time last year, the slogan was "Pandemic Through Your Lens". We decided that the concept of this year's competition would be 'boundaries'. The clearest judgment that everyone is aware of is that we are going through a difficult period as the whole world. All boundaries were requestioned with the chain of events that took place one after the other. Visible or invisible, set by us or by others, we are experiencing many changes from personal boundaries to home, to city-country boundaries. Our purpose is to show the "boundaries", some of which became sharper and clearer with the new world order, and some disappeared, through the eyes of photographers.”
