Special project for athletes

Dila Mayda and Murat Terzioğlu, students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), developed a special application that brings athletes and clubs together via smartphone. Thanks to the application named "VisporClub" by Mayda, who is interested in sailing and Terzioğlu, a motor sports enthusiast, athletes will upload performance videos to their profiles, and coaches and clubs will have the chance to discover them in a short time. The project, whose demo was completed, was also entitled to receive incubation support in the final of the ‘TUSIAD’s Bu Gençlikte İş Var Aegean Camp’, which took place this year.  

Dila Mayda (21), IUE Faculty of Law student, and Murat Terzioğlu (19), Vocational School Computer Programming student, completed the application they developed for athletes in approximately 1 year. While Mayda came up with the idea for the project, Terzioğlu carried out all the necessary work for the software in his spare time. The duo, who met upon the advice of their mutual friends to realize the project, also started to establish a company and get a trademark registration. The team received technical support from IUE Project Development and Technology Transfer Office (TTO) during this process and continues to work to receive investment.

NEW TALENTS WILL BE DISCOVERED

A person who becomes a free member of 'Visporclub', which targets especially young people and children, will upload their sports history, images in training or competitions, numerical degrees and performances related to the sport they are interested in. People who are considering joining the club will also be able to easily introduce themselves using the application and enter their physical characteristics. Coaches and clubs using the 'VisporClub' application will also have the opportunity to discover new talents by seeing a wide pool of athletes.

WE STARTED OUT WITH OUR INTEREST IN SPORTS

Sharing detailed information about the application, Mayda and Terzioğlu said, “We are both people who have been interested in sports since childhood and are still actively involved in sports. We focused on what people, who want to improve themselves in their field of interest, would need while preparing the application. The application we have developed is very important in terms of solving the problem of being discovered for athletes and discovery for coaches and clubs. Coaches want to find and screen talented and successful athletes. Athletes want to be discovered as soon as possible. But it is not easy for these two groups to come together. 'VisporClub' offers a practical solution and opportunity to this situation.”

IT OFFERS OPPORTUNITY

Mayda and Terzioğlu continued as follows: “After you become a member, you create a profile for yourself. After introducing yourself, you easily add videos and content to the profile. For example, you can share many essential things like vaulting images, star excursion balance test report and ratings. These can already be requested in regular club auditions. At the same time, I think we offer an opportunity to those who are in a club but want to show themselves to higher-class clubs. We are very happy that our project received an award in the final of the '‘TUSIAD’s Bu Gençlikte İş Var Aegean Camp'. The demo of the application is already ready. We aim to bring 'VisporClub' to life in a short time.”
