‘Robotics’ summit
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will organize a summit where autonomous robots, which can make decisions and act accordingly, just like humans. The 'Autonomous Robotics Summit' to be held at IUE Conference Hall on 25-26 December will bring together two important names from HAVELSAN and 9 academics from 7 universities who are experts in their fields. A competition will be held in which projects related to autonomous robots will be evaluated within the scope of the summit, where panels and open sessions will be held.
SUMMIT WILL CONTINUE UNTIL 23 DECEMBER
Material supply and mentoring regarding robots will be provided to the top 3 projects in the competition, which is open to participation from all over Turkey. Applications for the competition and participation in the summit will continue until 23 December. WE WILL SEE MORE ROBOTS IN 5 YEARS
Asst. Prof. Dr. Pınar Oğuz Ekim, Faculty Member of IUE Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, who is the founder of Advoard Robotics, which works on autonomous robots, said that the number of applications for participation in the summit reached 150. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ekim said, “Autonomous robots are a reality of our time. With the developing technology, they are used in many areas from daily life to industry. In 5 years, we will see much more autonomous robots, which also significantly reduce the need for human power. We wanted to organize a summit on such an important issue, which attracts the attention of young people, hosted by our university. We will host expert academics from different cities such as Ankara, Istanbul and Bursa at the summit.”
NATIONWIDE PARTICIPATION
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ekim continued as follows: “At the summit, we will address the future of autonomous robots, their areas of use and what work is being done in this regard around the world. We will bring together many young people working on autonomous robots with experts in this field. We will also have a competition on the second day of the summit. We will select the top 3 individuals or groups from all over Turkey who apply to us with their projects. As a reward, we will provide material support for robots and mentoring. Applications for the competition are ongoing. We will be taking applications until December 23. The competition will add a different excitement to the TUBITAK project No. 119E376 and the summit supported by Advoard Robotics, which I established with my students.”
