IUE’s ‘Student Theatre Festival’

Adding a new one to its works in the field of art, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will organize a ‘Theater Festival’ on April 4-8. All events will be free and open to the public at the festival, where theater groups from Ege University and Dokuz Eylül University will make guest appearances. The festival, which will open its curtains with a different play every evening at 20.00 for four days, will also host interviews, workshops, concerts and a special concert. Those, who want to attend the festival, will be able receive their invitations from the booth to be opened in IUE A Block on the days of the performances. The number of participants will be limited to 350 people per day. On the first day of the festival, IUE Theater Club students will be on stage with ‘Geceler ve Gündüzler’ (Nights and Days), compiled from William Shakespeare plays, by Prof. Dr. Özdemir Nutku, who passed away in 2019.

STUDENT THEATER GROUPS

IUE Art Coordinator Sinemis Eser Akaoğlu said that they want to make the festival, which will be held for the first time this year, a tradition and continue it in the coming years. Stating that as Izmir University of Economics, they are happy to start a new event with continuity in the field of art after the ‘Short Film Festival’ and the ‘International Photography Contest’, Akaoğlu said, “We make all artistic activities on our campus free and open to the public to make art accessible. Like our previous events, we prepared well for this festival. We have prepared a full program throughout the festival. Students of Izmir University of Economics Theater Club, Ege University Creative Drama and Improvisation Theater Group, Dokuz Eylul University Theater Group will bring unforgettable moments to art lovers with the plays they will stage at the festival. In addition, Bora Çınar will be on the stage with his one-man play ‘Psikoz 4.48’. We welcome everyone, who wants to experience the enthusiasm of the festival, to the IUE campus.”
