Celebrating the New Year with a ‘festival’

Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) celebrated the arrival of 2023 with the New Year's Fest, which was welcomed with great enthusiasm and excitement. The fest, where the rhythm of entertainment never ceased with handicraft workshops, gift competitions, game stations, dance performances and movie screenings, provided an unforgettable day for the young people of IUE.

IUE Conference Hall was decorated entirely for the fest, and IUE students had great time in the event where 25 different activities took place. Having fun with their friends in many activities such as karaoke, New Year's decoration, hat workshop, and stone painting, the young people experienced the enthusiasm of the New Year early on with the performances of Group Turuncu. While hip-hop, Latin, modern and folk dance groups took the stage with their performances, 3D objects designed by students and interesting Arduino projects were also displayed at the booths.

IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar also visited the festival and shared the enthusiasm of the young people. Rector Aşkar visiting the IUE Game Development Team booth and getting in front of the computer with the students was a sight to see. In addition to New Year themed cookies and cakes, healthy tangerines and alternative flavors were also featured at the festival. The Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LOSEV) and the Association for Quality in Health (SAĞKAL) also participated in the festival.

DIFFERENT EVENTS WILL CONTINUE

Stating that they were very happy to spend a pleasant day with the students, Özgür İnandım, Director of IUE Health, Culture and Sports, said, “The festival was great to experience the enthusiasm of the New Year all together on campus and to mingle with young people even more. IUE student clubs worked collectively and filled every minute of the day with activities. It was a program with intense participation and students were very satisfied. We will continue to be together with students and organize extraordinary activities for them in the upcoming period. I hope 2023 brings health, happiness and peace, and wish everyone a happy new year."
