They designed clothes out of cardboard and garbage bags

The students of Beyaz Köşk Kindergarten, serving within the body of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), designed clothes using cardboard, garbage bags, waste paper and plastic bottles in order to raise awareness about the environment. Children aged 3-6 exhibited the clothes they prepared using their creativity and imagination at the ‘Recycled Fashion Show’. The fashion show, which was held in the school yard, provided a pleasant and exciting day for the families.

The children, who carry out various workshops and design works within the scope of project activities on a different topic every month at IUE Beyaz Köşk Kindergarten, designed their own costumes with their families with the support of their preschool teachers Merve Yıldırım, Merve Öztekin and Seray Songür.

SKILLS AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Ezgi Oral, Director of IUE Beyaz Köşk Kindergarten, stated that they consider organizing activities to increase children's skills, social and personal development as their main priority. Stating that the Recycled Fashion Show is a very good example of this, Oral said, “Recycling is very important for a livable world and a healthy environment. We aimed to increase the awareness level of children on this issue, while we wanted to develop their creativity. The event was very successful. The children and we were very happy. The period between the ages of 3-6 covers a period in which learning is very rapid and the foundations of personal development are laid. Using this period productively is very important in terms of the success of children in the future and shaping their basic interests. The importance of kindergarten is also revealed here.”

PRE-REGISTRATIONS CONTINUE

Stating that they continue their preparations for the next education period, and the pre-registration process for the kindergarten continues, Oral said, “Pre-registration for the next school year has started at Beyaz Köşk Kindergarten, Pre-registration will continue until June 23 in the kindergarten which provides education within the body of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), where children aged 36-72 months are educated. A total of 72 students will be educated in the new school year. Thanks to the project-based preschool education program, the kindergarten offers children a privileged education opportunity where they can learn while having fun.
