Throwing caps in the air in front of 10 thousand people

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) bid farewell to its students, who successfully completed their education in the 100^th anniversary of the Republic, with a graduation ceremony held at Gürsel Aksel Stadium. This year's guest of the ceremony, the famous opera singer Hakan Aysev, marked the night with his spectacular performance. Students, who threw their caps into the air after a moment they had been waiting for years, experienced the happiness of graduation to the fullest at the ceremony attended by approximately 10 thousand people including their families.

Hosting hundreds of thousands of football fans every year, Gürsel Aksel Stadium hosted a graduation ceremony for the first time. 1355 students, who graduated from Izmir University of Economics in the 2022-2023 Academic Year, stepped into a new life at the end of a magnificent ceremony. Master artist Hakan Aysev once again impressed the audience with a spectacular performance with his unique style and interpretation.

‘MASTER'S’ AND ‘PHD’ AWARD

Ecenaz Demircan, a graduate of IUE Department of English Translation and Interpretation, ranked first in the University, while Aleyna Ağustos from the Department of Psychology ranked the second, and Bengisu Alkan from the same department ranked the third in the University. Computer Programming graduate Atakan Acaroğlu received his diploma as the top student of IUE Vocational School. IZTO Chairman of the Board and IUE Board of Trustees President Mahmut Özgener and Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan Abacıoğlu presented the ranking students their plaques and awards. IUE paved the way for students who graduated from the University with a degree to improve themselves by taking graduate education.

TOOK THE GRADUATION OATH

Master’s and doctorate education awards were given to the students who graduated from the University in the top 3, and Master’s education to all the top students in undergraduate programs. At the end of the ceremony, all newly graduates took the ‘Izmir University of Economics Graduation Oath’ together with Rector Prof. Dr. Abacıoğlu. Bornova Mayor Mustafa İduğ, Güzelbahçe Mayor Mustafa İnce, IZTO Council President Selami Özpoyraz, IZTO Vice Chairmen of the Board Cemal Elmasoğlu and Emre Kızılgüneşler, IZTO board members and many guests attended the graduation ceremony.

FIVE STEPS TO SUCCESS

In his speech, IZTO Chairman of the Board and IUE Board of Trustees President Mahmut Özgener shared a success formula with young people. President Özgener said, “First, think positively. Thinking positively when approaching any issue or problem facilitates the way to a solution. My second recommendation is to have a plan. We are faced with a complex, unstable and unclear environment in the world and business life in general. However, despite all the negativities, you must have a goal and a plan. Thirdly, care about team success. Consider the success of the team you work with as well as your individual success. The success of the team raises the level of individual success of the people who make up that team. Another recommendation is to be firm and consistent. Because success requires consistent and purposeful action, never giving up. Remember that dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence. My last recommendation is to be sensitive to the environment and society. Adhere to ethical values ​​unconditionally and never compromise your values ​​that make you who you are.”

Stating that he is proud of all graduates and has a lot of confidence in young people, President Özgener said, “Here I see a community that thrives by adapting to even the toughest conditions, and I'm proud of each and every one of you. I would like to express my special thanks to the precious parents who proudly watch their brilliant children. Undoubtedly, the education children receive from their parents forms the basis of their character, outlook and lives. We have embraced your children, whom you doted on and entrusted to our university with the trust you have in us, by putting them in the place of our own children. We have always supported them to be more equipped and stronger against life by building on the education they have received from you. We hope that we will witness the future successes of our graduates together with you and celebrate them together.”
