‘Children’s’ summit in Izmir
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Children's University Research and Application Center will bring together experts from the organizations that carry out ‘child’ focused studies in Turkey in a two-day workshop. The workshop, where studies on children's rights and examples of good practices will be shared, will be hosted by Izmir Chamber of Commerce on January 18-19. Many current issues such as the impact of digital media and climate change on children's rights, what work should be done for children after a possible disaster, and the work of organizations operating for children will be discussed at the workshop.
The workshop, which will be organized with the participation of the directors of the 'Children's University Research and Application Centers' operating within universities, will be an exemplary and effective step towards increasing cooperation between institutions on children's rights. The ‘Workshop on Children's Universities with a Focus on Children's Rights’, which will start with the first session at 9.30 on Thursday, January 18, will also guide the authorized institutions regarding the projects to be carried out in the coming period. In addition to faculty members from different universities, municipalities, non-governmental organizations and UNICEF officials will also take part in the workshop as speakers.
THE MOST VALUABLE LEGACY WE WILL LEAVE TO THE FUTURE
Lecturer Ezgi Oral Bozkurtoğlu, Director of IUE Children's University Research and Application Center, stated that they will hold one of the most comprehensive workshops where children's universities across Turkey and many organzaitons working with children will come together. Emphasizing that children are the most valuable legacy to be left to the future, Bozkurtoğlu said, “Director of research&application centers, faculties, municipalities and non-governmental organizations will take part in this workshop and discuss what can be done for children, who are the true foundations of our future. They will share their projects, ideas and good practice examples. We have identified very important topics such as ‘What do children's universities do in the context of children's rights?’, ‘Children's rights in digital media’, ‘Children's rights after disasters’ and ‘Climate crisis and children's rights’. We will also discuss what the relevant ministries, municipalities and non-governmental organizations expect from Children's University Research and Application Centers.” Bozkurtoğlu invited all representatives working in the field of children to the workshop to be hosted by Izmir University of Economics Children's University Research and Application Center at Izmir Chamber of Commerce Conference Hall.
