English Instructors will use ‘Artificial Intelligence’
The School of Foreign Languages at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has taken action to strengthen the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in English-language education institutions across Turkey. With support from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, IUE has launched the Artificial Intelligence in English Language Teaching Program (AIETP). The project is led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Donald Staub, Director of the School of Foreign Languages, with coordination by Vice Director Özge Coşkun Aysal. As part of the initiative, an AI expert from the Arizona State University Global Launch Program came to Izmir to provide training.
OVER 370 APPLICATIONS
20 English teachers were selected to participate in the program that attracted over 370 applications from university and high school teachers across Turkey. These participants traveled to Izmir University of Economics from cities including Ankara, Batman, Çanakkale, Çorum, Erzurum, Gaziantep, Hatay, Istanbul, Manisa, Sakarya, Samsun, and Trabzon to attend the training.
