‘Birth Preparation’ training for expectant couples
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) provided a two-day ‘birth preparation’ training for expectant mothers and fathers. During the event titled ‘Bebeğim Büyüyor’ (My Baby is Growing), participants were offered content under 12 different topic headings.
Organized in collaboration with IUE’s Vocational School of Health Services and the Children's University Research and Application Center, the program included information on pregnancy, preparing for birth, mother-baby nutrition, shopping for the baby, the birth process, baby routines, nutrition in the baby's first days, vaccinations, illnesses, sleep routines, basic first aid, and developmental monitoring.
Considering the needs of expectant mothers, exercises led by a fitness trainer were also included between presentations. The ‘My Baby is Growing’ event, which hosted 20 couples, is planned to be repeated in the spring with a larger group.
