Izmir University of Economics among World Universities
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has achieved great success by being included in the Round University Ranking (RUR) 2025 list, which evaluates the world's leading universities annually using objective data and 20 indicators. IUE is among the 62 universities from Turkey that made it onto the list and is the only foundation university from the Aegean Region to be ranked.
Evaluating the success achieved in the World University Rankings, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hakan Abacıoğlu said, “This success is not just about being included in a ranking; it is also the success of our strategic vision, academic collaborations, and international projects. We are developing new postgraduate programs, dual-degree agreements, and digital learning platforms to enhance the quality of our educational. Our investments in research infrastructure, especially in the fields of sustainability, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, are supported by both national and international funds. In line with our mission to benefit society, IUE students carry out field projects in areas such as health, environment, and social equality.”

Stating that they continue to research, develop, contribute to science, and benefit society to move the city and country higher up in the list, Prof. Dr. Abacıoğlu said, “The result in the ranking is a natural consequence of our understanding of educational quality, the importance we place on scientific productivity, and our internationalization vision. The Round University Ranking (RUR) is a comprehensive university ranking system conducted by the Russia-based RUR Agency since 2010. It evaluates universities worldwide under four main headings: education quality, research performance, international diversity, and financial sustainability. RUR ranks more than 1200 universities from over 80 countries annually based on objective data and is considered an important reference point for global academic circles.
