<![CDATA[Install a Japan eSIM before Narita, or buy at the airport?]]>I fly into Narita in the next few weeks. Two clocks:

  1. Install a Japan eSIM on hotel/home Wi-Fi the night before, then turn the line on after landing.
  2. Buy a physical SIM / eSIM at the airport counter after immigration.

Suica tap still works with no data. Maps, IC top-up, and translation do not.

Dated checkout prices 29 Aug 2026 (not blog SKUs): Airalo Japan 7d 5GB $10 / unlimited 7d $27 (FUP 3GB/24h then 1 Mbps). Holafly Japan 7d $27.50, hotspot 1GB/day. Ubigi 10GB/7d $14. Ubigi’s 7-day unlimited SKU was 404 on their own site that day.

Welcome Suica Mobile is iOS-only, 180 days, no refund (JR East, March 2026). Most overseas Android phones lack FeliCa.
