It shows the typical pro-Soviet take that Central Asia was a total dump before the USSR, then flips it with 1960s Kabul. Afghanistan had a pretty progressive, modern look back then under the monarchy. So the 'backwards Muslim' narrative doesn't hold up, and the guy on the right can't handle it. The irony is strong here.</p>
