Context: This meme is about the Norwegian heavy water sabotage in WWII. A squad of Norwegian commandos, trained and armed by the British, snuck into the Vemork power plant to wreck Nazi Germany's nuclear research. But right as they were about to light the fuses, the local caretaker panicked about his lost glasses. Since new eyeglasses were basically impossible to get during the war, everyone stopped to search until they found them. Then they blew the chambers. So yeah, they risked the whole mission over a pair of spectacles. Also they weren't actually British commandos, they were Norwegians working with the Brits.
